Put an end to telephone tag

When you call a colleague to set an appointment, don’t leave a vague message that says “Call me back so we can talk about …” Instead, leave the person a message that sets a telephone appointment for a specific date and time, suggests Donald Wetmore, president of the Productivity Institute.

Example: “I need to speak to you about the research you are doing. Give me a call tomorrow at 9 a.m. I have blocked that time out on my calendar. If it doesn’t work for you, please call me back and leave a message on my voice mail stating an alternate date and time for us to talk.”
